Awakening

Last year my good friend Kristin came over to the house with an idea. We nurtured it and it grew and some of our other friends came on board to take a weekend to make it. There were challenges, sure, but we leaned into them and poured out a lot of hard work. We made ourselves vulnerable by sharing something important to us, even with a few rough edges. We created something interesting and beautiful. And we told a story.

“Awakening” reminds us that there’s more to life than getting out of bed every morning. Our dream is that we would get out of bed every morning and engage with the people around us. We shot this short film on a cold winter day in a beautiful studio outside of Boston, using an FS7 and some Canon CN-E glass.

I’m grateful for Kristin's creativity, commitment, and patience with me; for Katrina's critiques and encouragement through dozens of edits; for Flora, Alex, and Jerusha's grace and talent; for Grace's keen eyes and technical knowledge; and for Dev's strong arms and constant friendliness. And for all of them for showing me what a creative and collaborative life can be like.
